Tadalafil is the active ingredient in Cialis® and is available in a generic, unbranded tablet. Tadalafil and Cialis® are medically equivalent but tadalafil is available at a much lower cost.
Generic medicines contain the same active ingredient and are equally effective and medically equivalent to the branded products, but are available at a lower price. Generic manufacturers have to demonstrate that they are medically identical to the branded product — in other words, they offer the same quality, strength, stability and effectiveness.
Cialis® 36 Hour (10/20mg) can continue to help you get and maintain erections in the 36 hours after you take the pill.
Cialis Daily® (2.5/5mg) has continuous effects for as long as you’re taking it.
Cialis® and Cialis Daily® contain different doses of the same active ingredients.
How to take Cialis® (36 Hour):
Take 1 tablet whole with a glass of water 30 minutes to 1 hour before sex. You can take it with or without food, but keep in mind it may take longer to work if taken with a heavy meal. You only need to take it when you’re planning to be sexually active.
How to take Cialis Daily®:
Take 1 tablet whole with a glass of water at the same time each day. You can take it with or without food, as it won’t affect how it works. It’s important that you take it regularly every day to ensure you get the full benefit of the medication, so it can be helpful to incorporate it into your daily routine.
Cialis® comes in two doses, either 10mg or 20mg. It’s recommended that you start with the 10mg tablet and continue if this is effective, as lower doses have less chance of side effects. If you find it’s not having the desired effect on your erection after several separate attempts, you can try increasing the dose to 20mg. If you’re still not satisfied with the results, talk to your doctor about other medication solutions for you.
Cialis Daily® is available in two strengths of 2.5mg and 5mg. Usually men begin with the 5mg dose and adjust as needed. If you find that you’re experiencing side effects or the 5mg seems to be too strong for you, you can try decreasing the dose to 2.5mg.
Tadalafil (and its brand-name counterpart, Cialis®) comes in two forms: daily and on-demand.
The daily dose is available as 2.5mg and 5mg, and is taken once daily to maintain a steady level of medication in your system. This means you can get an erection whenever you’re aroused, which is great for those who are regularly sexually active.
Tadalafil/Cialis® can also be taken on-demand. This requires taking a 10mg or 20mg dose an hour before you plan to have sex, after which the effects remain active for up to 36 hours. You can take your medication flexibly, when required, but you must never take more than one dose per day.
Like all medications, ED treatments can cause some side effects. The most common ones are: headaches, muscle aches, back pain, flushing, low blood pressure, abnormal vision and indigestion. Please speak with your GP or pharmacist if you experience any of these side effects for a prolonged period of time.
Cialis® has fewer side effects than other medications used to treat erectile dysfunction. In fact, many men who experience nasal congestion, stomach pain, nausea and diarrhoea with other drugs find that they can take tadalafil without side effects.
