Mounjaro Before and After Transformations

If you’re thinking about starting your own weight loss journey, you’ll likely have come across Mounjaro during your research. It’s the most effective weight loss medication available today. Its active ingredient, tirzepatide, has been shown to help people lose up to 20% of their body weight over 72 weeks. [1]

Sometimes numbers can be hard to picture. Real life weight loss often comes with other important changes too, like feeling more confident, having more energy or moving through the day with less pain. To help bring the results to life, three MedExpress customers have shared their own Mounjaro before-and-after stories below.

What Is Mounjaro And How Does It Help With Weight Loss?

Mounjaro is a weekly injection used to support weight loss. It works in a similar way to other treatments like Wegovy and comes in a simple, pre-filled pen you use at home.

Wegovy is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It works by mimicking a natural hormone called GLP-1, which helps control blood sugar, and boosts insulin release after eating. It also helps control appetite and slows the speed at which your stomach empties, which helps you feel full for longer.

Mounjaro is more effective as it mimics two hormones: GLP-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). This dual action better helps to control appetite, making Mounjaro even more powerful for weight loss than other similar medications. [2]

Mounjaro Results: From Yo-Yo Diets To Long-Term Weight Loss

Meet MedExpress customer Magdalena.

In just four months of taking weight loss medication, she lost 22kg (48.5 lbs). This is her Mounjaro before and after story:

“The primary reason [for wanting to lose weight] was being healthy for my kids. There’s a lot of things that I couldn't do at the weight that I was.

I did try the Cambridge diet, I tried the keto diet and fasting, but it was just a temporary solution. It had a rebound effect where I lost some [weight] and after that I just regained it because I wasn't managing it very well. The food noise was still there.

Now, I can do more. I feel more energetic. I can play more with my kids, whereas before I was restricted; breathless, slow, out of breath and feeling heavy. Before I was struggling to find clothes that fit me because everything was too small. Whereas now I struggle to find clothes that fit me because everything is becoming too loose!

Five out of five stars, definitely. It's been a brilliant experience with MedExpress, I’d definitely recommend.”

Mounjaro Before And After: Silencing Food Noise For Good

For MedExpress customer Charlotte, it was overeating and food noise that stood in the way of reaching her weight loss goals. With the help of Mounjaro, she lost 17kg (36lbs) in six months.

“My weight was high. I was getting backaches, headaches and I was always sluggish. I thought, do I continue this misery or do I risk something that might not even happen [side effects] to lose the weight and feel better in myself?

My problem has always been overthinking and over-eating. I was never satisfied. I never stopped thinking about food… so having that food noise turned off and feeling fuller and more satisfied is really helping me. These weight loss injections are doing everything that all those other [weight loss methods] couldn't do.

Before, when I did the food shopping, I used to sit there and think, I've got all this food now. What shall I have for lunch? And then what shall I have for dinner? And then tomorrow I'm going to have this and that and I'll cook this for my husband. It was just constant, constant food thoughts, food obsession. Mounjaro has really helped with not obsessing over thoughts of food and having a better relationship with it. It's helped me feel good and given me such peace in terms of food noise.”

How Chantelle Overcame Fears Of Injecting And Side Effects

Image

Chantell lost 11kg (25Ibs) and gained endless confidence in just four months on Mounjaro. We asked her to share her fears, challenges and incredible weight loss results below:

“I've struggled for years with my weight. I’ve tried every diet, I've tried weight slimming classes and I was just not happy with my weight. It was affecting my back and I wanted to lose weight to be healthier for my kids and for myself.

Don't get me wrong, I was scared at first, because obviously injecting yourself [is scary], but the needle was so tiny. I was expecting it to be a big needle, but no, it's tiny and actually quite easy to do. I'm so used to it now. When I took my first jab, I did follow the step-by-step guide. It's simple to read and so easy.

The only thing that put me off was seeing other people's side effects. But I'm at that point now where I've decided I've had enough of being [overweight] and I need to do something about it. And I'm so glad I did, because I've had no side effects and it's going great for me.

I realised that having weight on me, my back was killing me, my knees were killing me. So now I've got less pain. I used to walk before and get back aches and I can do that now without having to be in pain because of the medication.

I can go to the fun fair with my kids and get on a ride with them without thinking that I'm too heavy for the ride… that's why I wanted to lose weight. It makes me happier, it makes me feel better.”

Why Medication Is Just One Piece Of The Puzzle

Studies show that Mounjaro can lead to greater weight loss than dieting or exercise alone. [1] However, healthy habits still play an important role in getting the best results. For long-term success, it’s important to make sustainable lifestyle changes like following a reduced-calorie diet (you can find our tips here) and exercising for 20 to 30 minutes a day.

Dr. Sophie Dix is Head of Medical Affairs at MedExpress. A behavioural neuroscientist by training, Sophie has spent 30 years working at the intersection of medical research, pharmacology, technology and patient communication across the pharmaceutical industry, health technology and charity sectors. At MedExpress, Sophie's role is to ensure that everything the organisation does is grounded in the most current science. That means translating complex clinical evidence into accessible health information across the website, clinical pathways and media communications. It also means working with external press and broadcast media as a named expert commentator, making the science behind weight management and GLP-1 treatments understandable to a general audience. A core part of Sophie's work is building MedExpress's Real-World Evidence (RWE) programme: learning systematically from patient outcomes to understand what works in practice, not just in clinical trials. This patient-level insight feeds directly into improving patient experience and health outcomes. Sophie believes that patients make better decisions when they have access to accurate, evidence-based information. As an advocate for meaningful change in how obesity is understood, Sophie works to reduce stigma and raise awareness of the condition as an illness. This includes reframing the conversation around GLP-1s from aesthetics to public health, while highlighting the health benefits of weight loss and weight management.
