Fluconazole 150mg information
Fluconazole is an oral antifungal treatment that is used to treat thrush. Thrush is a fungal infection that can affect the genitals and skin of both men and women. Thrush causes symptoms including:
- Itchiness in the affected area
- Irritation
- White discharge
Fluconazole targets the fungi that causes thrush (candida) to stop it producing ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. Disrupting ergosterol production breaks down the fungal cell membrane, preventing candida from spreading. Each capsule contains 150mg of fluconazole, which is enough to clear a thrush infection.
Fluconazole usually relieves symptoms of thrush within two days. Speak to your GP if you still have symptoms after a week.
