What is BMI?
BMI (Body Mass Index) is a simple measure of how healthy your weight is relative to your height. It can be

may want to lose.
It is important to remember that BMI is a quick approximation of what category
of weight you fall into. It doesn't take into account lots of other factors that can affect your weight such as
bone density, water weight. It may over-estimate body fat in athletes due to their muscular build and it may
underestimate body fat in older persons who have lost muscle.
Why should I be concerned with a high BMI?
The higher your BMI, the more likely it is the that you will be at risk of certain diseases including
diabetes, gallstones, high blood pressure, heart disease and even some forms of cancer. For people with a BMI
over 28 it is recommended that you try and lose weight to help reduce your chances of developing diseases which
can be associated with obesity.
